Four semi trucks full of food were delivered recently, thanks to a generous donation by Harmons Grocery Stores and its customers. This food was purchased thanks to Harmons ‘Food for Families’ fundraising effort, which takes place annually in honor of Harmons birthday month. The local grocer celebrated 85 years in August, and is ecstatic to share this gift of food with the 392,000 Utahns facing hunger. Funds donated through this effort went towards the purchase of much-needed food items such as peanut butter, canned meats, boxed meals and chili. Harmons also presented Utah Food Bank with a financial donation of 5,000, which was collected during the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. (adventurelandri.com) This donation alone will provide the equivalent of over 576,000 meals, bringing Harmons grand total contributions to over 14.6 MILLION meals since 2008! Harmons also is one of the sponsors of our annual Holiday Food & Fund Drive and serves as a donation drop-off point year-round in each of their stores.
